Here, there, and everywhere

Wow it's been a while since I've blogged.  We've been busy, busy busy, as usual!  Here is what we've been up to.

We went to DISNEY!!  We love Disney!  We took Anderson for the first time when he was 1 and half and we've been back roughly every year or two since then.  Our favorite time of year to go is the first week in December when it's not very crowded and the weather is cooler.  The past 2 times, however, we were using a special military deal and we were a little limited on when we could go.  So we decided this year to go during Anderson's spring break.

The weather was not very cooperative--it rained POURED for 2 of our 4 days in the parks--so we had to adjust our plans a little bit.  We had a GREAT time, but we didn't do as much as we had planned.  We actually opted not to use one of the days on our ticket because we felt it would be a waste since the weather was so awful.  We have until October to use that day ticket, plus David can get 3 more 4-day Park Hoppers through the military offer, so we might be going again in the fall.  We'll see.  David's parents and brother met us down there, and we also drove over to Tampa to spend a few days with my Grandpa Joe, so we got to visit with lots of family. 

On our first night in Disney Anderson lost his first tooth!  Did you know that Tinker Bell handles the teeth at Disney--gives the Tooth Fairy a break I guess.  And we were told that Tinker Bell leaves $20 per tooth!  A Disney employee told us this--and Anderson overheard too!  At first he said $100, but he must have seen the horrified look on my face and quickly amended his statement.  I was shocked because I was pretty sure that the Tooth Fairy only leaves a few dollars, but sure enough...Anderson found a crisp $20 bill under his pillow the next day.  I guess that Disney guy was right!

Since we've gotten back home we've just been unpacking and then re-packing for a quick trip back to NY.  On Saturday it was my mom's birthday so we had a nice dinner with her.  On Sunday we went to my dad's retirement party.  He's been the mayor of Whitney Point for the past 16 years--since I was a junior in high school.  So they had a little party for him.

Another thing we're trying to get ready for is our annual garage sale.  For some reason we've got A LOT of stuff--our house in FL was bigger than our house in NY, so we had boxes and boxes of stuff that we never unpacked when we moved to NY.  Plus, when we bought my mom's house we inherited a lot of...stuff.  Then, when we moved to OH last year we never really had the time to go through it all and get rid of stuff--it was all moved.  So we've S L O W L Y been going through things and we have QUITE the pile of garage sale items.  And that's not even counting all the baby stuff that we may or may not use again.  It's very overwhelming.  I find it interesting, because I'm a "no clutter" type of person--my house is usually pretty clean and organized, that we have amassed so much STUFF!!  We're hoping to have a garage sale in June or July...we'll see if we can pull it together by then!

We also spent some time in Chicago!  I've never been.  Since I found out we were moving to Ohio I knew a trip to Chicago was going to be on the TO DO list.  But, then it got even easier because David's older brother and his family just relocated there!  So we drove out for my niece's first communion.  We spent the day after walking around Chicago.  We were only there for a few hours, but we walked up and down Michigan Avenue, the Riverwalk, and ended up at the ferris wheel on Navy Pier.  It was a beautiful day, and I think Chicago is a beautiful city...we can't wait to go back.  And it was wonderful to spend time with David's brother Randy and his family.  We hadn't seen them in a couple of years because they lived in Arizona.  Anderson is sandwiched right in age-wise between Grace and Noah, his cousins, and they had a great time playing and playing and playing! 

Now we're gearing up for summer and all the camping trips we have planned, our trips to FL, the Adirondacks...lots of fun memories to be made!!
